Tada! Finished!

The blanket handled a spin in the washer and a short trip in the dryer just fine.

Childhood Pals

Left is my Monkey friend, Tinkerbell.
Right is older brother's Monkey friend.
Mom made these when we were very small.
They must be 50+ years old.

Stuffed friends from childhood and a few
I made for puppetry class.  Others were gifts
from students.

Among the oldest are the plaid puppy, top shelf
Red Riding Hood Puppet (Sis'), 2nd shelf, hard to see.
Monkeys and Purple Penguin, 3rd shelf.

Some Photos from this Week

Happy Santolinas

Poor R2, abandoned in a vacant lot.

Hanging around the playground.
Or, Holding on by the skin of my teeth.

Water play on a warm day

I stuck the top two on the wall.
Then the 3 year olds took over.

I went inside to get something and came
back out to find this.

13 days and counting.....

I'm at that point in the school year when the end of the year is coming on like a train and I feel like I have more work than days left.  And this week is Open House.   Whose big idea is Open House anyway?  And, if we have to have one can it be in February???

grouse, grouse, grouse, grouse.

And now it's round

There's a lot about this that I'm not happy with starting with the seam.  It's fixable but I need to set it aside for a bit and think about it.  I'm going ahead with the border while I'm thinking.

There is also a lot I love about this project.  I would definitely make another......once I get the kinks worked out.

Current Knitting Project

Pinwheel Blanket by Denise Layman:

Can you spot my problem?   You're right, it is not a complete circle.  I made as many wedges as the pattern called for but did not pay attention to the part where it talks about if you use a smaller gauge loom you may need more wedges.   Sigh.

I took out my bound off edge and put the loops back on the loom.  I'm 3/4 of the way through the first of 3 additional wedges.  I was hoping to be working on the edging by now.  Oh well.  Learn something with every project!

In the Garden This Week

I came home yesterday to the surprise of
this little flowering cactus.  The orange is
a gorgeous, intense color.

While taking photos of the cactus flowers I noticed
that the miniature rose was in full bloom.

These are from this morning.  I had hoped the flowers
would open in the morning sun.

Getting Ready for Kinder

Lately alphabet letters have been a BIG DEAL in my classroom.   My Pre-K students are suddenly in love with letters and find them everywhere.  We're having great fun.  Here's one student getting ready to sort and match:
